The Accreditation Programme

To help you make the best software choices for your Promethean Activboard we have developed the Software Accreditation Programme. This has been specifically designed to find and recognise the best quality software for interactive group teaching and learning with a whiteboard. Accredited software will only be awarded a Promethean Kitemark after rigorous testing in a Promethean enabled classroom environment.

Other similar programmes exist that look at how well the software operates on a whiteboard. However, these programmes may not consider the suitability of software for group teaching and learning. Many software titles work very well on an interactive whiteboard but are actually designed for individual study. When accrediting software, Promethean look at how well the application can be utilised for whole class or group teaching. For example:

• Does the interaction involve actual user activity: choice and modelling/simulation and opportunities for discovery, discussion, opinion gathering and ad-hoc voting, as opposed to simply activating a series of events and/or just presenting nuggets of information?
• Does the product benefit from being used in conjunction with Promethean’s range of screen tools and services?

Promethean award three different quality Kitemarks: Friendly, Enabled and Powered. The Kitemark awarded depends upon how well the software will function with an Activboard and how well it lends itself to group interaction.
